Manolis Psarros
Managing Director
Manoli's experience is focused on tourism boards and DMOs strategic planning & operations support, urban & rural tourism planning and development, destination marketing research projects & campaign management, product development, digital tourism strategies and EU-funded tourism-related programs.Manolis has been directly involved in shaping the first Destination Management Organization in Greece, for the City of Athens, which he served as a Tourism Development Director. He has produced tourism strategies & destination marketing campaigns for the City of Athens Tourism & Economic Development Company & the Athens CVB and has provided strategic counsel to destinations around the world including Greece, UK, Finland, Denmark, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Armenia and Kenya.Manolis is the founder and Managing Director of abouTourism destination consultants (www.aboutourism.com), an international destination development & marketing consultancy with a regional focus on SE Europe & Eastern Mediterranean. He also partners with UNDP's regional chapter as a speaker and tourism trainer in the Black Sea Region countries and he is a member of the European Institute of Place Marketing, the GeoBranding Guiding Group and IFITT.Manolis has a BA (Hons) in Hospitality Management with Tourism & Leisure from the University of Huddersfield and a MSc in Tourism Planning & Development from the Oxford Brookes University.
Daisy Modiano
Project Manager
Daisy has international experience in tourism research, project coordination, situational analysis and strategic planning. Daisy has worked on tourism research and developmental projects for small and medium tourism businesses, public tourism organizations and international tourism companies in Australia, Cambodia and Bali. In addition she has a broad experience in the hospitality and the online travel industry in Greece and the Netherlands, having held customer support and account management positions. On behalf of abouTourism she has supported and coordinated a number of projects including the Social Media Marketing Strategy for the Slovenian Tourist Board, the Social Media Strategic Plan for the Region of Peloponnese, the Strategic Plan 2013-2015 of the Athens Development and Destination Management Agency, as well as the development and implementation of several tourism product marketing campaigns, travel trade events and strategic consultation workshops. Daisy holds a MA (Distinction) in Tourism Destination Management from the NHTV Breda University of Applied Sciences with a published dissertation research on innovation process development at tourism destinations. She is fluent in Greek and English and speaks basic Italian, Spanish and Dutch.
Pantazis Pastras
Research Analyst
Pantazis completed his PhD in the governance of tourism development in 2011 in the University of Birmingham, with a scholarship from the State Scholarships Foundation. The idea of applying a political science perspective in studying and interpreting tourism politics in Athens, in the years after the Olympic Games of 2004, has guided Pantazis to the integration of academic knowledge from different areas such as tourism planning and development, tourism geography, urban governance, and sustainable development indicators. More recently, Pantazis has opted to test his ability to provide critical analysis for tourism destinations outside of the academic environment. Pantazi’s latest projects include an executive summary for the Athens Convention Bureau of the ‘Statistics Report 2002-2011 – International Association Meetings Market’ by the International Congress and Convention Association, a report on the development of Black Sea cruise tourism for the United Nations Development Programme, and his involvement as account manager of the Strategic Plan 2013-2015 of the Athens Development and Destination Management Agency. Pantazis also holds a MSc (Merit) in Tourism Development from the University of Surrey and a Bachelor Degree in the Management of Tourism Enterprises from the Technological Educational Institute of Athens.

Dr. Roger Carter
Tourism Destination Management & Marketing
Roger is a leading international consultant in tourism destination management and marketing. He established his consultancy, TEAM Tourism Consulting in 1997, since when the company has provided consultancy services throughout the UK and in many other countries, including Ireland, Portugal, Belgium, Estonia, Montserrat (Caribbean), Oman, Saudi Arabia, Ethiopia, Seychelles, South Africa and Australia. Before establishing TEAM in 1997, he had 25 years senior destination management experience, including 15 years at CEO level, working for tourism boards at national, regional and city level, with direct involvement in every aspect of tourist board operations. As Chief Executive of the Edinburgh Tourist Board, he was responsible for establishing the organisation, then for its strategic development and its business and operational planning. Before that, he was Director (CEO) of the Heart of England Tourist Board for eight years. Roger has worked extensively with the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), co-authoring three publications – ‘Marketing Tourism Destinations Online’, ‘E-Business for Tourism’ and a ‘Practical Guide to Destination Management’ (just published). A fourth co-authored publication, an ‘eMarketing Handbook’, for UNWTO and the European Travel Commission is due for publication imminently. Roger has spoken regularly conferences and seminars organised by the UNWTO and other organisations – in South America, Africa, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Australia – on all aspects of destination management and marketing and on the use of e-business by tourism destinations. He has worked closely with the UNWTO in planning the programme for Destination Management conferences held in each of the past three years. He is the Managing Editor of ‘Destination World’, an e-newsletter produced by TEAM for the global community of tourism destination professionals www.destinationworld.info.
Martin Schobert
Destination Branding & Experience Design
Martin Schobert is the managing director and founder of tourismusdesign, a consultancy which started its business in March 2010. He supports businesses in travel and tourism in:
  • product development and design of brand experiences of destinations, attractions, sceneries, leisure parcs, cable car companies, ...
  • optimizing the “customer journey” of travellers by customer centered service design
  • coaching in (digital) communications (online brand management, corporate wording, storytelling, contentstrategy, online-PR, user enhanced content, relaunches, “on the road”).

Martin Schobert teaches Social Media and Experience Design at the new master’s program Hospitality & Tourism Management at the University of Applied Sciences Vienna as well as Innovation in Destination and Product Development at University of App. Sciences Salzburg and had guest lectures at IMC University of Applied Sciences Krems or Modul University Vienna. From 1998 - 2010 he worked at the Austrian National Tourist Office (ANTO) at the head office and ANTO’s office in Paris. As a member of the management board (2007-2009) he acted as “Head of Research & Development” and led the teams “Internet Strategy”, “Tourism & Market- Research”, “Business Intelligence” and “IT Service & Support”. At his final position at ANTO - “Head of Internet Strategy” - he reported directly to the CEO. Before he studied Business Economics at Vienna University of Economics & Business Administration. César Castañeda Vázquez del Mercado
Sustainable Development
Born in Colima, Mexico; Mr. César Castañeda made graduate studies in Economics in the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM), he obtained a master and a PhD in Economic History in the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) in Paris, France. Both degrees obtained with the highest honors. Mr Castañeda has large experience, in different areas concerning tourism and economics. His past experience includes responsibilities like Deputy Director of Economic studies in INEGI, (Instituto Nacional de Estadística, Geografía e Informática in Mexico), manager of the Mexico Tourism Board in (CPTM) in Paris, France and Director of the CPTM in Montreal and in Toronto, Canada. For almost four years Dr. Castañeda was the Director of Operations of the World Centre of Excellence for Destinations. He is now the Secretary General of OLACT, Organization of Latin-American and Caribbean Tourism.
Juan Carlos Belloso
Corporate & Place Branding & Strategy
Juan Carlos Belloso is an international expert in Corporate and Place Strategy, Branding and International Promotion, based in Barcelona. Advisor to the Barcelona Brand project, the Barcelona Strategic Metropolitan Plan, the Catalonia Brand Committee and founding member of the ‘Barcelona Global’ Association, a private organization formed by a group of business people, professionals and entrepreneurs with the aim of creating and developing projects to improve the positioning and influence of Barcelona in the world system of cities, Juan Carlos is also currently advising different countries, regions and cities in Spain, Europe, Russia and Latin America in the areas of place branding, image and reputation management and competitiveness and collaborates with different panels and international organizations advising developing countries and markets. Juan Carlos graduated in Economics and Business Administration at the University of Barcelona with specialization studies in international marketing at New York University, and has been Brand Strategy Services Director at Futurebrand in Madrid, Director of Strategy Consulting Services at Coopers & Lybrand and KPMG, Director of the Catalan International Promotion Agency in New York and responsible for international marketing projects at the Barcelona’92 Organizing Olympic Committee. Frequent speaker at various international seminars and forums on the topic and author of brand strategy and place branding articles for different journals and magazines, has also contributed to the book ‘City Branding: Theory & Cases’, by Prof. Keith Dinnie, published in January 2011 and is currently Director of the ‘City Branding’ course organized by the CUIMP Centre Ernest Lluch in Barcelona.
Olivier Henry Biabaud

Olivier Henry-Biabaud founded TCI Research in 2010. Master graduated in Marketing Strategy (Paris Dauphine University, Sciences-Po Paris), he has a 20 year experience in market research in global large companies (TNS, Ipsos) at senior operational and management positions based in various international locations. Specialist in international travelers opinion, he has been in charge of large scale research programs measuring travelers’ satisfaction and destination quality in over 30 countries, including strategic analysis for destinations and international organisations (European Commission, ECM…). He is a regular speaker in international forums about tourism competitiveness and destination marketing efficiency. He is also member of the UNTWO Barometer Panel Experts and the UNWTO Knowledge Network.
Tinkara Pavlovcic Kapitanovic
Digital Marketing
Tinkara has been operating as a senior digital marketing and management expert in the travel industry for over 12 years. Before moving to London (UK) in September 2012, Tinkara operated as Head of e-Business and Strategic Projects division at the Slovenian National Tourist Board (STB) and as a member of the National Committe for the development of the integrated tourist information system. She has several years of hands-on experience in e-tourism and digital marketing including social media at national level. She has been responsible for strategic planning, development, management and implementation of the Slovenian Tourism online presence and selected other strategic tourism developments. She also set up the national digital network consisting of all main DMOs and tourism businesses in Slovenia, including supporting training system. In the past Tinkara has also been accountable for Development and Research operations at the STB where she managed the teams for Research, Product development & knowledge transfer and e-Business. She is (co) author of several tourism strategies in Slovenia. Prior to joining the STB Tinkara has been working for Cap Gemini Ernst & Young Consulting and Schering AG (Switzerland). Tinkara acquired her Masters in Tourism Marketing and Management as best student with distinction at Bournemouth University, UK. Tinkara acts as Director of Marketing in the IFITT (International Federation of Information technology in Travel & Tourism) Board and Chair of ENTER2013 conference. She is also a former member of Marketing Technology Network of the European Travel Commission and Board member of IOETI, the International Organisation for the Electronic Tourism Industry. Tinkara regularly speaks at Slovenian and international events, including ENTER conferences, Eyefortravel, ETC e-Business Academy, WTM London, IOETI conferences, selected universities and more.
